ABOUT THE SONG
'Tomorrow' was inspired by my friends Nikita and Rada, who've been together for seven years. I wrote this playful song about Rada's growing impatience for a proposal and Nikita's casual demeanor. The backing vocals represent her friends (including me!) chiming in with our opinions. The production balances sunny, carefree instrumentals with that tick-tock rhythm that mirrors both a clock and their relationship's gentle push-pull. The guitar solos provide breathing room between verses, letting listeners appreciate the humor in this loving ultimatum. Two months after hearing the song at a dinner party, Nikita finally proposed! Who says music can't change the world?
PLAYLISTS
The new EP boldly fuses shoegaze with reggae rhythms, creating a sound that defies conventional genre boundaries. Themes of personal reinvention and spiritual growth, and lyrics about the tension between expectations and self-expression define the album.
What Stays and Fades
The sophomore album examining how moments crystallize or dissolve and relationships transform us. The album maps emotional resilience, confronting life's breakdowns and reunions while celebrating how connections both anchor and free us.
GET TO KNOW US
The Absent weave ethereal soundscapes that blur the lines between dreampop and shoegaze. Our sound draws from the textural traditions of 90s shoegaze while exploring contemporary themes of digital disconnection and fleeting connections. Reverb-drenched guitars meet whispered vocals that float just beneath the surface, creating music that feels both intimate and vast. Since our formation in 2024, we've been building a collection of songs that capture the particular melancholy of modern life—the glow of phone screens at 3AM, raindrops on train windows, and the ghosts of conversations that linger in empty rooms.
